Eyesight is god's gift. Infact everything is.
i hav heard a quote "kannillathavane kanninte vila ariyoo"
which transalates as "only the blind know the value of eyesight".
i too belonged to this category until one fine morning , i started seeing two of everything relatively small, like the letters in a news paper, or the leaves of the trees around me, which pressed the panic button inside me.
 i rushed to the doctor.
he confirmed my unacknowledged fear.
a minor injury in my eye left untreated had caused this.
"nothing to worry," he said . "it will heal with proper medication.
but if u had got tratment immdiately u could hav avoided all this."

As for the injury, i invited it upon me.
i was in the habit of reading , lying down in bed.
one day when someone knocked on the door, i looked up forgetting the book in my hand and dropping it on my face. No need to say the corner of the cover hit my eye.
Ofcourse it pained and watered for quite sometime. and then over the next few days i forgot the episode except for a litte reddening of the eye.
but i did get warning signals, which i ignored.
after many days, i felt pain in one eye while opening my eyes in the morning. and i used to feel pain if somehow i woke up and opened my eyes at night.
still i didnt feel the need to consult a doctor.
and then when my vision was affected , i panicked.

It took some time and medicines , but the eye healed completely
but had i got treatment immediately, i could hav avoided the pain and trouble.

i thank god that the injury was not very serious.
looking back i think ,what if i had  lost my eyesight because of my careless nature.
this has made me realise the value of many small things that we take for granted.

there are many people who avoid getting treatment due to many reasons ignorance being the main. little do they realise that timely medical help can avert many disasters and that their careless attitude can cause them dear, even their life itself.

As the saying goes, prevention is always better than cure.
but still if u cant prevent , atleast get help immediately.

That is what my experience has taught me.
