Now a days who is interested in listening to a religious discourse?
Not many , i m sure. including myself.
But if the person is a good orator capable of captivating ur attention everyone will involuntarily listen, well u cant help it !
I chanced to hear Swami Sandeep Chaitanya's discourse (previously associated with the Chinmaya Mission, now working independently for spreading the message of The Gita). His speeches are always laced with stories and wit which captivates his audience.

Let me recount a story and its moral  interpretaton that he gave.

Once 2 neighbours, one a swamiji and the other a prostitute, died.
The swami went straight to hell and the woman went to heaven.
Swamiji could not hide his astonishment. He asked God,"O lord, why is it that ,i , a swami, who led a simple and pure life dedicated to preaching your greatness, am being sent to hell, while that immoral woman is in heaven now?"
HE replied," you being a swami ,always thought about the number of people visiting your neighbour. Your thoughts and mind were never centerd upon me. But the woman , though led an immoral life, always thought about what you were teaching,
always tried to follow your discourse. Her thoughts were always about me."

It is not enough that  one accept sanyas or preach good while your senses and your mind wanders elsewhere. A man should learn to control his senses. for this he has to bring his mind under control. This is one of the messages of Gita.

Every person can be a better human being with a proper understanding
and practise of The Bhagavadgita.
Then the world would have been a better place to live in........
